This new thing called cloth diapers...

...or new to us anyway! (:
So our story goes...
I took our little girl to the doctor to get an answer to a diaper rash that we were having a hard time getting rid of and the answer we received was that she was allergic to the elastic in disposable diapers. Our doctor suggested cloth diapers, pull-ups or potty training. Because I really don't think she is ready at all for potty training and the cost of pull-ups is so high, I began to look into cloth diapers. I was surprised, I didn't know very much at all about them and was also surprised that what I was learning, I liked! They now have snaps or velcro instead of giant safety-pins, there are so many styles, brands, colors and websites to choose from. By the help of a friend I found a website called justsimplybaby.com. I found a few helpful videos and of the other ones I had been looking at I really liked this price as well. I decided to give it a trial run and ordered 4 cloth diapers from this site. After using them for about 2 to 3 days her rash was gone! (: I was also finding out it wasn't near as hard as I thought it would be. The rinsing and washing is an everyday thing but its really not that bad. After using them for about 5 days I decided to order a few more so I wouldn't have to do laundry every day. Yesterday I received my new order so I'm excited to try them out! I still need to get a diaper pail but I did get a wet bag and eventually I would like to make my own baby wipes but for now I'm still using the ones I already had when I was using disposable diapers. I also ordered diaper liners to make rinsing easier but have only used them for one day so I'm not sure how I'm going to like them yet.
I still feel like I'm learning a lot with the whole experience but so far I am very pleased! I'm excited to be saving about $20 to $35 a month on disposable. (:
I'll keep you posted on how it's going in a few weeks with my new adventure in cloth diapers!!! (:

P.S. If your wondering why I didn't buy all girl colors for our little girl it's so I can use them again if we ever have another little boy. Girls can wear blue but we don't put our boys in pink! (:

School is still in, at our house!

Around here we kind of do school whenever its convenient and our little boy is in the mood to do it (the latter happens much more then the convenient part). Our little boy has always loved to learn. It has been so fun just watching him as he learns new things and uses what he is learning.
In the last month he has been learning to write his abc's! So exciting!
Since my younger siblings have been in town for the summer it has made it all the more fun for our little boy because they are excellent teachers for him and love helping him with his school!
Here are a few recent pictures of us doing school in our house

Aunt Darla helping with his writing!

On this day his Aunt Dawn helped him make a telescope with a paper towel ring, some constructing paper, crayons and stickers!

I love coupons!

So This week I made a quick trip to a few stores and after coupons and store credit I got all these things (pictured) for FREE!!!!! I Love saving money.....oh, and I love coupons!!!!!

These things called coupons!!!

I have always used coupons if I happen to have one for something I was already planning to buy, but recently (since getting internet at our home) I have gotten a little more into finding and using coupons. I'm not like a lot of people you hear of who go to the grocery store and get $300 worth of groceries for $1.00. I would go crazy if I tried keeping up with all that. (: I do however try to find really good deals and get things for free or almost free that we will use and not waste. On average I save around $60 to $70 a month on groceries and household items. I love saving money if I can!
Some of my favorite websites and places to find coupons are frugallivingandhavingfun.com, couponmom.com and on facebook I am a fan of "money saving mom" but I don't always get a chance to check them as often as the others. Whenever I get to go to Target which is not very often (the closest one to us is about 45 minutes away) I go to target.com and click on their coupons tab at the bottom of the page. I also try to get the coupon inserts out of the Sunday newspapers when I can.
I try to use coupons when we go out to eat and on clothing stores if they are available. Clothing store coupons give me a good excuse to go shopping for clothes...which I love to do! (:

My much appreciated coupon book!
Last weeks coupon clippings (just so you know I highly doubt I will be using all these, I just clip them just in case).

So there it is...my coupon post! (:
